Il Forno was featured as the "Best Restaurant In Lakeland" In the 17th Annual issue of "Best Bets Bites Dining Guide"

Divide the 4 pieces of mozzarella on 4 slices of bread. Cover with the 4 remaining slices of bread to form sandwiches.
In a wide, shallow bowl, whisk the eggs. Infuse the milk with saffron and add to egg. Add salt and mix until well-blended.
Dip the sandwiches into the egg mixture, one by one, to coat, and set aside.
In a 12- to 14-inch nonstick sauté pan, heat half the olive oil on medium-high heat. Place 2 sandwiches in the pan and cook until golden brown on the first side. Flip each sandwich and cook on the other side. Remove sandwiches and set aside.
Repeat the process with the remaining oil. Serve immediately1 pound fresh mozzarella, cut into thick slices
8 slices rustic-style sandwich bread, cut approximately 1/2-inch thick
4 eggs
1 cup milk, warmed
Saffron, to season milk
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons plus of extra-virgin olive oil
